Tours



The California State Historic Park includes eight properties built in the 19th Century during the Mexican and American periods.  The area of Old Monterey in which the park is situated also includes a number of other properties owned by civic organizations.

Historic Garden League Tours
The Historic Garden League provides tours of the gardens surrounding five of the properties included in the Monterey State Historic Park:  Whaling Station, Custom House, Casa Soberanes, First Theatre and the Memory Garden at the Pacific House.  The Doud House, owned by the Monterey History and Art Association is the sixth garden included in the tours. 

Tours begin at the Picket Fence – Casa del Oro Complex next to Pacific House and adjacent to three important gardens:  the Sensory Garden in the plaza in front of the Picket Fence, the Herb Garden that lies between them and the Casa del Oro Garden located at the corner of Pacific and Scott Streets in Monterey.  The docent-led tours are $5.00 per person.  A self-guided tour brochure may be purchased for $3.00 at the Picket Fence or other Historic Park locations.

California State Historic Park Tours
The State Historic Park provides garden tours of three properties – Cooper-Molera complex, Larkin House, and Stevenson House.  Tours can be arranged at the Monterey State Historic Park office, next to the Pacific House Museum – 20 Custom House Plaza, Monterey, CA 93940, or by calling (831) 649-7118. The historic park provides information about early California life, Monterey history and the people that lived here.
